Běta

Production & Project coordinator

Hi, I’m Běta. I’m always running around and I’m always running late. In my village I get called  a Praguer, in Prague a villager, and meanwhile I’m trying to make my home anywhere in the world. But I’m always drawn back to Prague by sunrises over Kampa, evenings in Hybernská and love.

I’m as dirty as a tile and my mouth is pretty cut up. I am first and foremost a woman, daughter, sister, a friend, and secondarily a poet, pseudo-writer and traveller.

I love to  love, dance on the subway escalators and sing for all of Prague.

Contact

How are you feeling at the moment?
Overworked and a little stressed. But underneath the surface worries, I have a deep joy and gratitude because I’m happy with where I am in life.

Where do you look for inspiration in life?
In ordinary humane moments that show that people have a tenderness and a goodness in them. In my friends, in myself.

Is there anything you’re hiding from others?
That sometimes I’m not sure of myself, that sometimes I’m not okay. I want to change that too – if we all knew how to ask for help, a hug, a break, the world would be a little safer place.

Who or what does your heart beat for?
For the sunrises, the hiking backpack on my back, for every day that’s an adventure, for my wild and safe home that I love to return to.

What gave you strength when you needed it the most?
Believing in myself and knowing that I’m incredibly lucky. I have a wall at home plastered with photos of the most beautiful experiences of my life, and when I feel insecure, I look at it- it gives me confidence that I can bring those beautiful moments back into my life.

What is the most precious thing in your life?
My health and happiness.

Is there anything that bothers you about today’s society?
That we’re not honest with ourselves, that we often play games.

Do you consider Prague anonymous?
Prague is a village. Yeah, it’s easy to get lost, but it’s also very easy to find yourself.

What is the importance of art in the public space?
It’s incalculable. Just the fact that it makes someone stop, smile or think can change lives.

What is your role in the project and what does it entail?
I joined the project in December 2021, and it took me a while to find my feet. I take care of working with all the stickers, posters, compliments – and I’m also part of various events in the production.

Best beer Any beer, especially if it’s in the gardens in Míšeňská.
Favourite venue The café in the Hybernská Campus – I feel more at home there than anywhere else.
Secret spot One of those tunnels above Křížová Street. You can climb over it.
Favourite cinema / gallery / museum Sovovy mlýny, Aero.
Favourite greenery Prokopák.
